The Secret Room

Away from the world,
centred within,
there is a secret room,
a sanctum.
Protect it and guard it.
Select what comes in.

Outside the world howls
come out, come out to play
do stay within the dotted lines,
obey all rules and directives
but consume –
The economy demands it.

Inside the secret room
in meditation and reflection
light flows in
clear, bright and pure.

There in the silence
the old falls away.
Let go, let go the shadows whisper
we are ready now to leave.
Step into the light.
Here within the secret room
beyond outside controls
nurture new dreams,
grow strong within the self.
Believe in possibilities.

    1. Yes, it is tricky to keep the room clean and protected right now. Meditation is a great tool. Spending time alone in the garden is also helpful. A friend of mine likens weeding to weeding out unnecessary thoughts in the mind.
The ideas in the poem I wrote today is still finding their expression. I think they might be a theme I refine over time. One thing that springs to mind is the idea of looking for beauty. That is one of the greatest spiritual tools I’ve ever learnt. I did write about it years ago. I’ll see if I can find it somewhere and make a new blog post about it over the weekend.

This is so inspiring and uplifting. And within is exactly the place we are being challenged to go these days. Wonderfully inspiring! Such a great message.

  2. Lovely poem. I believe in that inner sanctum and try to visit it often. Unfortunately, the outer world has such strength of distraction. But I keep working on it. Enjoyed reading this. Glad you reposted.

    1. Thanks Myrna. I have been trying to comment on your blog but am never sure if they go through. Commenting on Blogspot from WordPress is complicated. I always enjoy your poems ๐Ÿ˜Š
